Shelley Boutin-Gervais

Experience: I have a wide range of work experience within SaskTel and have been involved with the Union for 30+ years as a Steward, Group Rep, Vice-President for 6 years and President Local 2S for 8 years ((2013-2018) & (2021-2022)). I have extensive bargaining experience as I was on the bargaining committee from 2004-2018 & 2021-2022. I earned a Certificate in Business Admin from the U of S, additional courses in negotiation, sales, facilitation, project management, counselling, conflict resolution, bargaining, confrontation, respectful workplace, customer service, labour law and accommodation law. I have experience on numerous committees: OH&S Policy Committee, BSCP, Grievance Committee, DIP Rehab, FSA, RRSP, Health Plan and the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour Executive, currently a member of the Health Plan Committee.  I’m a Councillor for Town of Battleford (third term) with a MLDP Certificate (municipal governance) and currently sit on the Saskatchewan Labour Relations Board. I am an active community member and volunteer. I believe in defending the membership, adhering to the language in the Collective Agreement, fiscal responsibility, accountability, transparency, communication and member engagement.

Brothers & Sisters, our membership cannot afford to return to the old ways.  In my first term as your President, I have defended your rights and pledge to continue without prejudice. Open dialog with management and Industrial Relations to resolve problems before they escalate has always been one of my priorities.  When elected, I will continue to fiercely ensure our Collective Agreement is maintained & respected and not abused by management and I will continue to provide strong leadership, integrity and accountability for everyone within our local. Membership engagement will be key for our job security at SaskTel as we face Contracting Out, Tech Change and A.I. that threaten our jobs.
