When union members retire from SaskTel, they receive a gift from SaskCouncil and the local. The gift is funded by special assessments deducted from our paycheques - in addition to our dues.

According to the Bylaws of SaskCouncil a retirement fund is maintained at $15,000 to cover the cost of the retirement gift given to any member who retires from SaskTel with a minimum of 10 years seniority.

In order to maintain that fund a special assessment is done periodically. The amount of the assessment and frequency depends on how many retirements are projected to happen within the year. This is looked at when the budget is done for SaskCouncil and applies to all Inscope members of SaskTel on staff at the time the assessment is applied.

In 2024, there will be 2 assessments, May 23rd for $10.00 and September 12th for $5.00.
